Morena Trolley Delayed Until 2014

Christine Rychel, SANDAG Senior Transportation Planner of the Mid-Coast Light Rail Transit Project spoke at the Morena Business Association March 28 meeting about the status of the Trolley project in our area.  A map of the proposed route and stations was provided.  You may click on the map below to display a larger map with more details.

There will be three trolley stations in the Morena area. Tecolote station will be north of Armstrong Nursery.  It will have 103 off-street parking spaces. Clairemont station will be under the Clairemont Drive overpass.  It will have 50 on-street parking spaces. Balboa station will be located at the southwest corner of Balboa and Morena. It will have a parking lot with 272 parking spaces and bus bays. 

The trolley will extend north to University City with a station at Nobel Drive, two stations on the East and West sides of the UCSD campus, and a final station at UTC shopping center.

A supplemental environmental study is currently underway.  The next phase is the design phase, followed by construction, which is currently scheduled to begin in 2010.  Completion is scheduled for 2014.  For additional information visit SANDAG.org, call Christine Rychel at 619-699‑1971, or email her at cry@sandag.org.
