Parking Parking Parking
The most frequently mentioned problem among Morena area businesses seems to be the parking situation. Believe it or not, some Morena businesses have no parking at all. Their customers and employees must find street parking or use public transportation. Some businesses have invested in private parking and now are being coerced by the city to invest in additional public improvements.

Morena Boulevard parking is jammed by trucks and RVs, by individuals living on the street in their motor homes, by vehicles for sale, by lightly-used bicycle lanes, by an explicit city policy encouraging public transportation use, and by neglect. Private parking is being used by unauthorized parkers. These conditions force Morena customers to do business elsewhere.

A study is currently underway to evaluate the parking situation in the Morena area and to make suggestions for improvements.
The San Diego City Council has published a document called "Parking Policy" that provides guidelines for communities interested in finding solutions to parking problems. Click here to read the Parking Policy document.
If you would like to contribute anecdotal information or be part of the study in some way, please attend our MBA meetings or contact Nevin Kleege. Developing a parking strategy for the Morena area is a work in process, and you can help to determine the outcome.
