San Diego Police Department Community Relations Officer Schalbach Speaks at July MBA Meeting

Michael Schalbach spoke at the July 6th MBA meeting at Baci’s Italian Restaurant.  Officer Schalbach’s topic was “Safety by Design”.  This is a coordinated plan for dealing with crime, parking, security, safety, and other matters of concern to Morena business owners and landlords.  He answered questions about credit card fraud and fake $100 bills.  We discussed the creation of a member phone tree, having merchant block captains, and employing strategically placed cameras and fake cameras to deter crime.  Members discussed situations that are affecting their businesses.  Officer Schalbach explained that the police are currently in reactive mode.  They go to where they are called.  He encouraged members to contact him at 619-291-1727 or pager 7619-232-2237 ID# 3390 or mschaldach@sandiego.gov when a situation needs proactive attention.
